The extract of Tecoma violacea (Pau d 'Arco) has several active ingredients in its composition, highlighting the naphthoquinones and anthraquinones, and flavonoids saponosidos. The presence of naphthoquinones confers cytotoxic activity and antitumor this product, therefore, very important to the treatment of cancer. In addition, according to some studies also has an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. The Pau d'Arco is analgesic, hypotensive and hypoglycemic. It has antioxidant properties, mainly due to its content of flavonoids. This property enhances the efficiency of anticancer Pau d'Arco. The saponosidos are responsible for diuretic effect, since they contribute to increased blood flow to the kidney. This product also presents an action healing, haemostatic and tonic at heart. It helps to purify the blood and hea wounds and varicose ulcers. It is also alexiterico, i.e. either protects against infectious diseases of bacterial origin (mainly against gram positive bacteria) or caused by viruses, parasites or fungi (especially of the genus Candida). By bringing together all these therapeutic properties, Pau d'Arco is very important to strengthen the immune system and is extremely effective in protecting against many diseases (mainly cardiovascular, infectious and neoplastic).
