Frankincense (Boswellia serrata)

Boswellia serrata extract is used for its many medicinal properties. The boswellic acid (the active compound) has remarkable anti-inflammatory properties, to the extent that they can be treated with anti-inflammatory synthesis (including NSAIDs - Non Steroid Anti-Inflammatory), used on a large scale. In addition, the Boswellia serrata has the great advantage of not causing gastrointestinal effects, typical adverse effects of conventional anti-inflammatories. All this has been demonstrated in several clinical studies. The anti-inflammatory action of this plant occurs by inhibiting the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase, leading to blockage of leukotriene synthesis (synthesized substances during the process of inflammation). One of the characteristic symptoms of inflammation is pain. As such, the Boswellia serrata is also effective in relieving pain. These two actions cause concomitant this plant has properties highly beneficial in cases of disease where inflammation is severe. Protrude rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, in which the use of Boswellia serrata, reduces joint swelling and pain generally and helps prevent deterioration of cartilage and joints. This plant is also particularly useful in treating asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, and Crohn's disease. The extract of Boswellia serrata has yet to demonstrate efficacy as immunostimulant, balsamic (mucolytic, expetorante) and spasmolytic. Another major advantage of the use of this plant is that if they find significant improvements very quickly (on average after several weeks of treatment). All these results are even more favorable when the Boswellia serrata is combined with Curcuma longa.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa)

Several clinical studies have shown that curcumin, the active compound of Curcuma longa, has a strong antioxidant activity, and therefore has multiple beneficial effects on the human body. Noteworthy is the protection against cancer, since very effectively protects the cells from harmful action of free radicals and stimulates the immune system. It also has an anti-inflammatory action, which, in combination with Boswellia serrata, makes it very useful in strengthening the joints and in the treatment of the same diseases (arthritis for example). The Curcuma longa is also antiplatelet, lipidlowering (reduces cholesterol), spasmolytic, antibacterial, coleretica (increases the secretion and biliary excretion), eupeptica (facilitates digestion) and provides protection to the liver.
